THE GOVERNOR'S MAIL

A local stampless cover from the Governor dated 1 March 1962 to Mostyn bearing the rare cachet GOVERNOR AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF / COLONY OF NORTH BORNEO. The sender would have been Sir William Goode as he was Governor from 1960-63. Governors used to enjoy free postage for their mails.

Boheyan Timber Wharf at 60s

* Boheyan Island was administered by a timber company known as the NBT (North Borneo Timber) Company. The company had built a wharf for ships from overseas mainly to load timbers harvested in this region.
